Premier Equine Leather Mouth Eggbutt Ring with Aurion Lozenge

Suitable for horses that:

• Will not accept a metal mouthpiece and cannot settle on a moving bit

• Rub or mark at the corners of the mouth

• Are anxious and do not yet trust the contact

• Are busy in the mouth and never take a steady feel

• Tense the moment the bit goes in

How it works

Mouthpiece. 14mm finished, double jointed, with curved cannons angled forward to follow the shape of the tongue. The lozenge lies flat on the tongue rather than standing upright between tongue and palate, so tongue pressure is spread across the width of the tongue. There is no nutcracker action and nothing reaches the palate.

Cheek piece. The bit ring is fixed to the mouthpiece and does not rotate. This prevents pinching of the lips, gives a solid feel against the side of the face and prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower than a loose ring and light poll pressure is introduced. A fixed cheek sits closely to the lips and encourages flexion. With a leather mouthpiece it is the gentlest combination we make for a horse already sore at the corners, because neither the cheek nor the covering creates friction.
