Bombers Wilkie (beval) Happy Tongue
Bombers Wilkie (beval) Happy Tongue
Bombers Wilkie Happy Tongue - Brand new! The wilkie cheekpiece is also called a Beval or Bevel
The Bomber Wilkie utilizes pressure on the poll and raises the bit in the horse’s mouth to achieve additional control without resorting to a stronger mouthpiece.
This is similar to the action of a ring bit but to a milder degree which is why it has found favour for use on ponies.
The Bombers Happy Tongue is a solid mouth piece. It is curved and ported to give tongue relief. The Happy Tongue would be a good place to start if your horse is:
- Shaking its head
- Sticking its tongue out
- Sucking its tongue back and as a result making an intermittent coughing noise
- Trying to put its tongue over the bit
- Going behind the bit to avoid the contact
- Snatching the reins forward and down
The rider will know immediately if this is the correct bit, as a horse with a sensitive tongue will finally begin to work into, and accept the contact.
The happy tongue mouthpiece is by far Bombers most successful design – we recommend for all young horses and those that show tongue sensitive signs. The ports have been scaled according to each bit width. This ensures accurate fitting over the bars and eliminates the rocking movement which occurs when the port is too wide. The Happy Tongue is also available as a straight mouthpiece which is slightly stronger.
